Good news!

We had Ronan's second blood test today to check his white blood cell count. The doctor called us two hours later to say that he had made remarkable/near miraculous improvement. In just one week, he went from 400 to over 3,000. He said he would've been happy if it had gotten to 1,000, so 3,000 is huge. He said that's about the middle of the middle. He hadn't told us Ronan's number last week and after I looked it up today, I can see why. 400 is really super low and put him at "severe" risk. I'm really thankful nothing happened and that we were able to avoid the hospital. The doctor did say that this could resurface, but we should be fine. No need to continue blood tests, unless something appears to be off (like a fever that won't go away). So that is a huge relief.

In other news, Ronan has started counting. It's so funny. He usually gets 1-4 pretty well, then skips to seven, then I think he's saying 8, 9, 10. But I've heard a lot of other sounds come out, including zero. But he always shouts the last number and then claps. It's so cute.

He also seems to be really settled in to daycare now. He usually runs in ahead of me and once I get his coat off, he's happy to go join the other kids, who usually yell "Ronan's here!" When I picked him up the other day, he was holding a stuffed animal, and once he saw me, tried to give it to another little boy. Unfortunately, that boy's hands were full, which Ronan didn't seem to noticed. He'd just keep shoving the animal in his face. Then one of his teachers took it and he came running over to me.

School's going pretty well. I feel like I have a version of senioritis. Lots of work, but little motivation. Not a good sign three weeks into the semester! But maybe now that things have improved with Ronan's health, I can get back on top of things. I'm also trying to be better about walking the dogs. On Mondays and Wednesdays, I don't have to leave for class until about 12:30, so I try to drop Ronan off in the morning, come home, walk the dogs, and then get ready for class. It's only worked like that once. The other times, I've been scrambling to get work done (it also sucks that it takes me about an hour to drive up to daycare, drop Ronan off, and then get back home). But the one day I did make it work, I had a ton of energy and felt really good. So we'll see what happens.

On that note, though, I should get back to work.
