Here we go again...maybe

So today was my weekly check-up, including ultrasound. There were some mixed results. On the one hand, the baby looks and sounds good, is head-down, and was doing some practice breathing. On the other hand, my amniotic fluid levels were low again. My doctor revised the number up to about 8 - technically, they couldn't count one big pocket of fluid because an umbilical cord and an arm were in there. But even with that, my doctor didn't see it as an urgent problem. (I think the preferred number is 10 or higher, but I can't remember.) That was good - it was basically at this point in my pregnancy with Ronan that I showed up for a "routine" check and was told that we had to induce within 24 hours.

Instead, the plan is for me to go back on Thursday for a non-stress test and another ultrasound. If the fluid levels drop to 5 or lower, they'll induce this weekend. If they stay the same, we'll probably look into inducing during the 39th week (so roughly sometimes next week). If it gets higher, then we'll just let things happen naturally. So we'll see where things stand on Thursday.

This is also my last week of teaching, which is good timing. Next week is spring break, after which my friend and replacement takes over. The only question is whether I'll have a baby by then or not.

Other than that, things are going well. Ronan keeps going back and forth between saying stuff like "I don't want a baby" to "I want to show baby my tiger and my penguin and my watch and my house." He's also started telling me that I have "lots of babies" in my belly. Not sure how to take that. :)
