Getting close

Only about 2.5 weeks before my due date. It's hard to believe how close it's getting. My suitcase is packed and ready to go. I wish I could say I feel great, but lately I'm just exhausted, sore, and constantly feeling unwell. Plus, my feet have ballooned to the point where I can barely fit into any of my shoes. While I'm looking forward to getting my body somewhat back to normal, I'm also quite a bit concerned about how I'll handle two kids, along with everything else. I feel lately like I've just let everything go. I haven't walked the dogs in ages, I'm lucky if I can get through a week without relying on fast food for dinner, and I've lost a lot of my enthusiasm for teaching, which I really feel badly about. I also find it harder and harder to keep up with Ronan at this point. I'm glad he's at daycare four days a week, because when it's just the two of us at home, there's a lot of TV time.

On the plus side, my friend Emily came and visited last weekend. It was great to see her, and Ronan had a lot of fun too. I had hoped to check out the new aquarium that recently opened in Cleveland, but when we got there, we discovered the line to get in was an hour and a half long! That obviously wasn't going to work for any of us, so we ended up going over to the Cleveland Zoo and visited their rainforest exhibit. It was pretty cool and nice to be someplace warm. Ronan really enjoyed looking at all the frogs and snakes and especially the crocodile! After Emily left on Sunday, Ronan kept asking where she went. It may take him awhile to warm up to people, but once he does, he's sold. :)

Other than that, things have been fairly quiet. I had a doctor's appointment on Monday and everything checked out fine. Blood pressure is still really good, so that's a plus. This coming Monday, I have a quick ultrasound to check the fluid levels, but they were good a few weeks ago, so hopefully that hasn't changed. My doctor joked that he'd ordered enough tests for this pregnancy and wanted to get through the next few weeks without having to do anymore. I'm grateful nothing has been seriously wrong, but I will feel a bit relieved once this baby is out and (hopefully) healthy.

Ronan's been getting a little more used to the idea that there's a baby coming. He likes to tell me I have lots of babies in my belly, at which point I quickly correct him and let him know there's only one (or at least, there better only be one!) He's also latched on to random factoids I've mentioned about babies, especially the idea that babies don't poop in the potty right away. Every time he goes potty now, Ronan announces that babies don't do that. But I don't think he really gets what this means for him. Oh well, I guess he'll find out soon enough!

Just wanted to say that I was exactly in your shoes 7-8 weeks ago. Such a small period of time and yet such huge changes. Can't wait to meet him/her!!
