Child care

As the start of school gets closer and closer, I'm getting more and more worried about how Ronan and I will adjust to the new routine. I finally found a day care that I like, and even though it's out of the way, I'm really happy with it. I'm not all that worried about how he'll do with that. I'm more worried about how things are going to go with my two night classes. On the nights that Tom's not working, it should be ok, although still probably not great, since Ronan continues to refuse to take a bottle and doesn't seem to get how the sippy cup works. Even more nerve wracking though for me is having to leave Ronan with others when Tom is working. I'm grateful that we have family nearby who are willing and able to help. However, I'm just nervous about how it will work out, especially the first couple of weeks. It would make me feel a lot better if we could get this drinking thing figured out, since that's still how he goes to sleep. I know that he won't starve - he'll eat baby food without a problem and obviously, if he gets hungry enough, he should take a bottle. Plus, the longest I would be gone in the evening is about 5 hours. Still, I just hate the thought that he might be sitting here crying for me and I won't be there.

I know it'll get better once we adjust and parents do this all the time. He'll still be surrounded by people who love him and will take care of him. And yet....

In other news, I learned today that Ronan is not a fan of bagpipes. We learned that in church, where our organist had taken the day off and so one of our members played the pipes as the sole accompaniment for each hymn. The very first note, I looked over at Ronan to see how he would react and he was fine. But then as it got louder, his face began to crumple and pretty soon he was making his displeasure known to all. The people around me all laughed, so that was good. He did better with each song, but still - definitely not his thing.

I am so glad you found a place that you like! I was so nervous and stressed out when I went back to work, and everyone told me that it would get easier, and I didn't believe them. Last week sometime I realized that it really did get easier. Livie loves her center and her teachers and genuinely enjoys being there. I don't worry about her all day long anymore, and she is one happy little girl :)

I am sure Ronan will do great, no matter who is watching him!

But the whole milk thing - that is another story, lol. It took us awhile to find a sippy that worked. Have you tried Nuby sippys? They are shorter and wide, and all Liv has to do is chew on the valve to open it - it isn't nearly as hard to drink out of as some sippys.

I'm not sure how much time you'll be at school, but keeping your milk supply up when you aren't exclusively nursing is a completely different ball game than just nursing. If you need any advice/help, please let me know!

I hope you are looking forward to going back to school :)
