What a weekend

Well, it was a good, fun, but fast weekend! I got into MN around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. I really enjoyed being able to see my family on Saturday and meet my new cousin. :)

Then on Sunday my friends surprised me with a baby shower. It was great to spend time with everyone and I loved all the presents. I'm a little sad that I had to leave them all in MN (I didn't want to pay any money to check luggage, so I didn't have a way to get them home). My folks will be bringing them down in November, so I guess it'll be like getting presents all over again. :)

Then on Monday, I did some shopping with my mom, which was great and then had an interview at the U of MN with a potential advisor. It was a good conversation and I'm hopeful about my chances of getting in. It was a brief meeting, since i had to get to the airport, but overall, everything went well.

The biggest excitement, however, was coming home. After a three hour layover in Chicago, I was really ready to just be home. The plane to Akron was really warm and completely full. I sat in the second row on the aisle and everytime the flight attendant walked down the aisle, she hit my arm. Not painful, but annoying. So I was very happy to hear the pilot announce we were going to begin our descent. After awhile though, I realized we weren't going any lower and in fact were circling. The weather was fine and all I could think of was we were burning fuel. Sure enough, the pilot came on and said there had been a warning light, but everything was ok now. We got a little lower, then started circling again. The pilot came back on to announce that, even though everything was fine, there would be fire trucks and emergency crews waiting for us on the runway. Anyway, long story short, we landed safely but then had to sit on the runway for an hour until a mechanic came out to fix the broken gear and tow us to the terminal. Instead of getting back at 11:30 p.m. we didn't deplane until 1 a.m.

All in all, a great trip. Now I just need a day off to recover. :) Tomorrow is my gestational diabetes test. Wish me luck.

Good luck tomorrow! And whatever you do, don't eat anything before your test!!!
(even if they told you it is ok, don't do it. don't eat.)

trust me ;)

I ate before my test, both times, and never had any trouble. The test makes some people feel really yucky. I hope it went fine!

Well, I know you've already taken the test by now... (did you pass???)

Some people have no problem eating before the test. But, eating beforehand causes a high rate of false-fails. I failed my one hour, and after my three hour they decided that I have some hypoglycemic issues, the complete opposite of diabetes, lol. (my 3-hour blood sugar was in the 40s ... super low)

well, i ended up not eating and just sleeping in later. :) Everything went fine, but haven't gotten the results yet. Hopefully everything will come out ok!
