Well, Tristan has decided that sleeping at night is for suckers, so I haven't been getting much rest lately. Actually, I think he wants to sleep, but is having gas issues or something. He gets very fussy/upset after nursing once I lay him down, even after burping. So I end up sitting in bed, holding him up over my shoulder. That helps him sleep, but of course, I can't sleep like that. But if I put him down, he usually starts fussing again (and it just gets worse if I leave him). Or if he does stay asleep, it's usually only a little bit before he wakes up to eat again. I'm sure this will pass soon (or so I hope!), but in the meantime...
Other than that, things have been going fairly well. Aside from the fussing thing, Tristan's a pretty laid-back baby. We had a good Easter - made it to church on time (always an impressive feat), and both boys did well there. Then we came home and Ronan found his Easter basket and immediately started in on the chocolate bunny. After a bit, we headed over to Tom's parents' house and spent the day with his family. The kids did an Easter egg hunt and Ronan had a lot of fun. Once he found all his eggs (there were 14 eggs for each child), he kept going, trying to help his cousins find more. I have to admit, I was happy (and a bit relieved) that he just pointed out eggs to the others, rather than throwing a fit about not being able to take more. All of the kids did a great job. By the time we left that evening, he was worn out and fell asleep within about 5 minutes of getting in the car.
The only other thing I've been dealing with is daycare issues. It looks like we're going to go back to Ronan's original daycare. We left there last year because they were closing; by the time it was announced that they would be staying open after all under new management, we had already signed Ronan up for a new place that was closer to the house. I don't know if I talked about that, but I ended up taking him out of there after a couple months because I had a bad feeling about it. I started him at the place he's currently at after a recommendation from some other moms I know. However, I've been struggling with it because I often find them watching TV there and I've also started noticing that many of the teachers spend a lot of time playing on their phones. Ronan's enjoyed being there, however, and has made a number of friends. Plus, I feel bad moving him around so much. And I have to admit, it's really nice only having to drive about 5 minutes. But I've been getting more and more uncomfortable with the situation and even though I've talked with the director about the TV stuff, it doesn't really change (they'll improve for a week or two, but then it quickly goes back to the usual). So I called his old place back today and was happy to find that it was the same assistant director (who remembered Ronan) and a lot of the staff has remained. I'm going to go pick up the paperwork in the next day or two, and then start Ronan back there in May. Tristan will go in at the end of August. On the downside, it's more expensive and a much farther drive (around 25 minutes; longer when I hit rush hour). But that is quickly outweighed by the fact that I always felt good about that place, the teachers are very involved, there aren't any TVs, etc. So hopefully that remains the case and I don't have to look for another daycare until we move.
