Tristan had his one month check-up today. All that nursing is definitely paying off. He now weighs 10lbs, 13 oz, so in his month of life, he's gained over 3lbs. This puts him in the 90% for weight. He's also grown about 1/2 an inch (21.5 inches long now), which puts him in the 60% for height. His head circumference is right at the 50% level. So overall, everything looks good. He apparently still has a lot of gas trapped in his belly, so we're working on that - gas drops and me cutting down on how much milk I drink. That's going to be tricky, since that's my usual drink at mealtimes. But I'll make do.
Tom's vacation is over, so we're in the process of adjusting to him going back to work. On Sunday, I took both kids to church by myself, which was a bit of an adventure. Overall, Ronan did very well, but I was once again thankful that it's a very family-friendly congregation! The first big test was during the children's sermon. I let Ronan go up there by himself for the first time (I usually go up with him and sit in the front pew, just to make sure he doesn't start climbing over the altar rail). He did fairly well, although he moved around quite a bit. When the pastor gave kids a stamp on the hand, Ronan refused with a resounding "No!" which got a bit of a laugh from the congregation. Then he stomped back to me. Then, just as the sermon began, Tristan began crying and needed to be both changed and nursed. So I told Ronan we needed to go to the bathroom and he leaped up and before I could stop him, ran to the front of the sanctuary and started heading for the pastor! Thankfully, I caught up to him and directed him out the side door there. While I was nursing, Ronan did a fairly good job staying nearby, but occasionally would run back to the door to the sanctuary and look in, then come running back. When we were finally ready to go back in, he once again was ahead of me, and stopped at the front of the church and began swinging around the pillar at the front. I managed to get him back to our pew, and saw quite a few people laughing and smiling at us. But overall, it went fairly well. At least I feel like I can manage being on my own every other weekend.
I also went and picked up the daycare forms to transfer Ronan. It was nice to go back there and recognize so many of the teachers. I was also excited to learn that they start doing swimming lessons with the 3 year olds. They have a small pool (goes to about 3 ft. deep) in the center, with a lifeguard, plus the teachers work with the kids. I think Ronan will really enjoy that. He loves the water and it'll be nice to get him that experience without having to pay (and find time) for lessons somewhere else.
Well, the boys are waking up from their naps, so I suppose it's time for me to sign off.
