Well the semester is starting to wrap up, which is both good and bad. Good is obvious; the bad is mainly the fact that I have big papers due at the end which I'm not even close to read for. But as always, I'll figure out a way to get it done.
Ronan's been doing really well. He's definitely helped cheer me up when I'm stressed with school. His big things now are to count - he usually skips over five and six, but then loves to just repeat "seven eight nine!" over and over again. It's cute to listen to though. He also has started trying to whistle with his fingers. Apparently one of his teachers at daycare can whistle with her two fingers, and Ronan decided that was a good way to call Shadow. So now he'll yell "Sadow!" stick his fingers in his mouth and shriek. Not quite the same as whistling, but satisfyingly loud just the same.
His favorite indoor activity is coloring. He likes to make a big presentation of his drawing when he's done and we've hung a couple things up on the fridge. The other day, I drew a picture for him (nothing fancy - I have very limited artistic skills!) and gave it to him. He immediately stopped what he was doing and walked away with it. I followed him and he went to the fridge, took down one of his pictures and used the magnet to hang up mine! It was so sweet.
Outside is still the favorite though, by far. The weather has been kind of crappy lately, but last week, it was about 80 degrees on Sunday. I took Ronan to the lake where they have a little playground for the kids. Ronan had a lot of fun going down the big twisty slide, where he and a little girl took turns helping each other up the little ladder. Ronan would give her feet a boost; she pushed him by the butt. Then they left and another family came with a big shark kite. Ronan was in love with that! He kept running around trying to jump up and catch it. Unfortunately, the wind was so strong, it snapped the line and the kite blew away. But all in all, it was a fun day for him.
I also went and bought him a little tricycle the other day. He's still trying to get the hang of pedaling and steering (doing both at the same time seems very far off now), but he loves it nonetheless. If he can't get it to move properly, he just gets off and pulls it behind him.
My friend, and Ronan's aunt and godmother, Emily was able to come up this weekend and stay with us, which was awesome. I was bummed that the weather was terrible on Saturday (pouring buckets of rain), but we still managed to have a good time. Ronan took about 15 minutes to get warmed up to her and then was delighted to have someone new to impress. He still occasionally asks "Where'd she go?"
But now it's time for me to run get Ronan (I have a little bit of down time between my afternoon class and pick-up time), make dinner, and head to my night class. The fun never stops!
