Deer, zoo, bubbles, and more

Once again, my apologies for being so behind during the school year! I'm sure I'll forget all sorts of things I was planning on including, but alas.

Here's what I do remember though. :) Last week, we went over to Tom's parents' house for dinner. It was very nice, but the highlight for Ronan was when a pack of deer roamed through the backyard. A little while later, another three deer went racing through, chased by a big black dog. That was just the icing on the cake for him!

The weather has been crazy here. Lots of rain, then snow, then rain again. On our day of snow, Ronan and I went and played outside. Ronan had a blast, playing in the snow with the dogs. He liked having me make snowballs so he could throw them to Shadow, who loved to catch them. That said, I was kind of glad when it all melted the next day. I love winter, during the winter months. But by March, I'm ready for spring.

We got a taste of it yesterday, when the temp got into the 60s and it was nice and sunny. Ronan and I went to the Akron Zoo, where we had a lot of fun. Ronan loved watching the penguins. The best part, for him, was the little play area with a big slide. For whatever reason, Ronan just flew down that slide, compared to the other kids. He'd actually get airborne at the end and land on his bottom. He loved it though. It was kind of funny - there were a bunch of other parents there. The moms with more than one kid just laughed and made jokes about it. The parents with only one child (Ronan's age or so) seemed really concerned about it. I figured if it really hurt him, he'd stop or at least indicate pain. Since he didn't, I was fine to let him continue.

When we were done with the zoo, we had to swing by the grocery store, where I bought him a thing of bubbles. We got home and sat out on the porch steps, eating apples and blowing bubbles. Ronan had a hard time with the bubbles, so pretty soon, he had me blowing them and he ran around trying to catch them. If they landed on the ground, he'd jump on them. He had a blast and it was fun to watch. Later, he got bored and went to play with the dogs, so I stopped blowing bubbles. But he immediately came back and started saying "Bubbles! Sadow! Didi!" (his names for the dogs - not sure why he's having such a hard time with Loki). Apparently, even if Ronan was done was bubbles, I was to continue blowing them for the dogs. It was a good day.

It's also been really nice that Tom's been on vacation this week. He tried to turn his schedule around, but was only able to be up all day on Wednesday. We ended up going out to lunch while Ronan was in daycare, which was really nice. I think that's the first time we've gone out, just the two of us, since Ronan was born. It was a glimpse of how nice it'd be if he was on days. Hopefully soon.
