Ronan is definitely keeping us busy. He is now climbing on everything he can manage - chairs, the laundry basket (which he figured out he could flip over and climb on), the couch, boxes, anything. Yesterday when I picked him up from daycare, he started trying to climb on a little girl who was crawling by the gate so he could get out. There's a favorite family story of Tom scaling a six-foot fortress fence when he was about 2 and I always loved climbing as a kid as well. Apparently, Ronan has inherited those genes. He's also smart - he'll push a box or basket over to the counter (and once the stove, which was luckily turned off) and then climb on it to try to reach things up there. Big trouble.
But it's been a lot of fun to watch him get bigger and try to figure things out. He's very independent - he often prefers to play on his own. The other day, we bought a new book for him and I sat down to read it. He grabbed it out of my hands and ran away, flipping through it and "reading" it to himself. Anytime I'd try to join him and read with him, he'd start crying and getting angry. (He did eventually let me read to him while he was drinking his milk.)
He's still not talking (other than saying mama and dada), but he's close. He babbles a lot and you can tell he's trying to have a conversation with you. He's so intent and gestures and changes his inflection. I have a feeling that one day the floodgates will open and a torrent of words will start streaming out.
As for me, I'm doing pretty well. I went through a bit of a rough patch after I stopped nursing, which wasn't fun. I cried at almost everything and I was also got frustrated and upset very easily. I saw my doctor about it and seemed pretty obvious that it was a hormone issue. Luckily, I was finally able to go back on my regular medicine and now after a month of that, plus the spring weather and the sun finally returning, I'm back to my old self. I've also started working out three days a week which has been a little hard with my schedule, but I'm going to keep it up.
Well, time for me to sign off. Hope all is well with everyone!
