Risking a Jinx

...but I wanted to share anyway. For the past two nights, Ronan's been sleeping from about midnight to six or seven in the morning. Hooray! It hasn't been all that restful yet for me - I keep waking up around 2 or 3 a.m. (which is when he usually woke up to feed) and checking to make sure he's ok. The first night he did this, I woke up at 4 a.m. because Tom had come in with a flashlight to make sure everything was alright - he hadn't heard anything on the monitor all night and was worried. It was very sweet.

I took Ronan to church this morning, for the second week. People kept coming up to look at him. He was wide awake when we got there, and I was a little nervous about how he would do. He's still on a 2 hour nursing schedule for most of the day, which makes going out somewhat difficult. I fed him at 9:30 (the latest I could start in order to leave on time), he finished at about 10 and we left. Got to church just before the service started at 10:45. Of course, 11:30 then is when he would normally be eating again (and he usually starts fussing about half an hour before then) and that's right about the middle of the sermon. Luckily though he only fussed a bit at the beginning and so I just held him through the whole thing. He fell asleep about half way through, which was great, but my arm was sore by the end from holding him. I do have to say though that I was kind of impressed by my ability to hold him and still participate in the service (holding the hymnal, standing/sitting, getting communion). I'm really getting the hand of working with only one arm. :)

Tomorrow will be the big test - Tom goes back to work, so it'll just be the two of us and the dogs. I'm hoping for another all-night sleep, but I won't hold my breath. Wish us luck!

He is so very cute!! we miss you so much, but, as you know, once you have your own family, you do what is best for them -- no matter what.
