Today we had our 2 month check up. All in all, everything went well. He know weighs about 12 lbs, 3 oz (60th %ile) and is 23 3/4 inches long (75th %ile). However, as part of the check up, he had to get his first round of vaccines. One was an oral vaccine (I think that was for the rotovirus) and that went well. But then he had to get three shots. For about half a second after the first shot was delivered, I thought "oh, maybe this won't be so bad." But then his face turned really red and he started to scream/cry. It broke my heart. And of course, it didn't help that he had two more follow ups. As soon as it was over, I picked him up and he stopped crying after about a minute or two. I was actually kind of impressed that I didn't start crying myself (it took a bit of effort).
They said one of the side effects of the vaccines may be sleepiness, which I'm kind of hoping for. Lately he's been WIDE awake during most of the day and for a good portion of the night. (Our streak of sleeping through the night went for three nights. Now we're back to waking up every 3-4 hours.) The dogs haven't been aiding my sleep either. When Tom's at work, they'll want/need to go out a couple times at night. If I try to ignore them, Shadow will sit right next to my bed and the bassinet and start barking, which of course then wakes up Ronan. They only do this though when Tom's at work. I'm not sure why. I don't know if they feel a need to go out and patrol the yard from time to time or if they just like to torture me. :) But hopefully they'll settle into a more sleepful routine.
