Hat Trick

You can't escape karma. That's the lesson I learned today. I had been teasing Tom the past couple days because lately, every time he's changed a diaper, Ronan has either grabbed the Vaseline off his circumcision and smeared it on his face and hair or else he's peed all over himself (and sometimes Tom).

Well, today, he went for the hat trick while I was changing him. We'd finished feeding, he'd burped and I heard him fill his diaper. So I took him to his room to change. I was just finishing wiping his bottom when all of a sudden, he pooped again. All over himself, the wall, the changing pad, etc. I started cleaning him again, when I looked up to see that he had spit up all over the side of his face and onto the changing pad, where he then rolled his hair in it. At this point, I called Tom in for backup, but he was laughing too hard to really help. Of course, at this point, Ronan decided to take advantage of our distraction by peeing all over. This was when we threw in the towel (or wipe) and give him a bath.

Ronan's still not a fan of the sponge bath, so he started crying and screaming as we cleaned him, which Shadow took as his cue to join in, howling away. It was kind of insane, but very funny.

Aside from that little adventure, things have been going really well. We have the hang of nursing (knock on wood), so that's a huge relief. On Monday, we went to the pediatrician and Ronan had to get blood drawn to check his jaundice levels. They were elevated, so we went back on Wednesday. By that point, Ronan was back to a normal color and we didn't have to have any more blood drawn. Aside from that, he's in great shape. His umbilical cord fell off the other night and his circumcision is almost completely healed.

It was great having my mom here. She left today, which was hard. I really wish we lived closer. But it was great seeing her and a lot of help to have an experienced mom on hand. :)

Well, time for me to venture back to the hazardous world of diaper changing. Wish me luck!

When Sara and I have kids, they will come out fully toilet-trained.
