Here's my new game idea. It's called "Let's Guess What Will Happen to Denise This Week." So far, we've had cramps, cat attack, random bleeding and this week (drum roll please!) itchy red bumps/rash!
For those of you who haven't heard, a few days ago, I developed an itchy bump on my chest, near my shoulder. I initially thought it was a bug bite. Then another showed up on my stomach. At this point, I did a full laundry day, making sure to clean all sheets, blankets, etc. The bumps then started to spread across in a line along my stomach, but only on one side, never crossing the belly button or spine. This is apparently the key symptom of Shingles.
I went to my doctor today. The good news is, it isn't Shingles, since I have the bumps on my shoulder. (He did say that without those, he would have said it was Shingles, but he's pretty sure it isn't. The bumps also don't look like Shingles, which he described as looking more "angry.") It isn't poison ivy or poison oak either. However, that still leaves me with a rash of itchy bumps. For now, I'm supposed to start putting cortisone cream on them and see if they get better or worse. Anyone want to place a bet on which way it'll go? :)
Finally, to cap off the bad news cycle, I was told at work yesterday that they no longer have enough work to keep me busy and they're cutting my hours. I will now only be working on Fridays, for 5 hours. That's been a bit of a blow, but they did say that once things start picking up again, they'd love to have me back. In the meantime, I guess it's back to the job search I go.
Anyway, stay tuned for the latest development in "What Will Happen to Denise." Will a turtle trip me while I'm walking the dogs? Will a cow fall out of a plane and crash on our house? (Wasn't that an urban legend, a cow falling out of a plane and crashing on a Japanese fishing boat?) Tune in again, same Bat-time, same Bat-channel. :)
