Christmas adventures

Happy New Year!  (Delayed though I am).  We had a wonderful series of Christmas celebrations.  First, we spent Christmas Day at my in-laws, which was fun.  Ronan had a great time opening presents and playing with all his cousins.  It's so fun to watch them all play together.  Ronan's also really excited to have his cousins come over in a week for his birthday.  Tristan still didn't really get the whole presents thing, so Ronan was a big "help" in getting Tristan's presents unwrapped for him.

Two days after Christmas, the boys and I headed up to Minnesota to celebrate with my family.  Our flights went pretty well, and it was great to get up there.  Ronan was so excited to see grandma and grandpa and Uncle Ricky.  At the airport, anytime he saw a tall guy, he'd ask if it was "Uncle Wicky".  Ronan had a blast doing winter activities with grandpa - we went ice skating one day and then the two of them went sledding quite a bit.  Ronan did great with skating - he fell down quite a lot, but kept getting up again.  Finally, he just said, "I think it's time to go home," after about 20 minutes.  It was fun to watch my dad try to teach him. Ronan also loved all the great Christmas cookies my mom made.  Later, we went to Barnes and Noble and grandma got him a stuffed horse, which Ronan loves - he still sleeps with it at night.

On Friday, I got together with two of my friends and their kids.  It was great to catch up and the kids had a good time.  Ronan was so sure at first about being the only boy and playing princesses, but he warmed up pretty quickly and the three of them had fun.  Tristan, I think, is getting to a stage where he really wants to go play with the other kids, but is still (obviously) too young to do so.  On Saturday, my cousin came over with his family and we had a great dinner and the kids had a blast playing together.  On Monday, my aunt and uncle came up from Colorado with my other cousin's two oldest kids.  Ronan hit it off great with Frisco and even shared his beloved Lightening McQueen car (the ultimate sign of friendship lately).  My mom made a great dinner, including a delicious ham.  Ronan scarfed it down - I was kind of surprised, since I've never seen him eat so much before.

So it was a great time, and now we have to get geared up for the start of the semester (Monday).
