Well, the semester has begun again, so things have gotten busy here. I'm teaching the U.S. Modern history class and so far, it's going pretty well. I have a good group of students and I'm really excited to be teaching a subject I actually know quite a bit about (as opposed to last year, where I only had basic grasp on things).
Tristan just keeps growing and changing. He's finally started rolling over on his own. He can get on his belly, but like most babies, absolutely hates it once he's there. Hopefully that'll encourage him to roll the other way soon! He also recently cut his first tooth, on the bottom. It sure is sharp! But it's definitely corresponded with an improvement in his mood, for which I'm quite grateful.
We've also had to make some sleep changes. It was starting to get ridiculous - he was waking up 6-7 times a night sleeping in his bassinet next to our bed. One night, in desperation, I decided to try co-sleeping and it's made a world of difference. I know lots of people who co-sleep, but it's always been something that scared me. But now that he's a bit bigger, I feel more safe about doing it. And the fact that now he only wakes up 2-3 times is a huge improvement. The other night, though, I woke up on the very edge of the bed - at some point, Ronan had come in and managed to snuggle his way in between Tristan and me. It was very cute, but even with a king sized bed, there really isn't enough room for the four of us, plus the dogs, who had also decided to join us!
We've also been keeping Tristan home while I work, with Tom taking care of him. Since he's still refusing bottles (Tristan, not Tom) and the fact that it's so much more expensive to have two kids in daycare, we decided this would be the best option. So far, it's working out fairly well. We're hoping we can continue this next semester too. Then we could put him in daycare next fall, when he's a bit older (and also cheaper!). But we'll see how things work out. The main thing is making sure Tom's schedule can be arranged around my teaching schedule next semester.
Ronan's been doing well. He still loves playing with his brother. The other day, I was giving Tristan a bath and Ronan kept giving him all his bath toys. Ronan got so excited whenever Tristan actually tried to play with any of them. I hope that excitement continues! Of course, the other day, driving home from daycare, Ronan kept yelling "Cry, baby!" at Tristan, so it's not all sunshine and roses. :) But overall, they both seem to like each other quite a bit. I sure do love my boys!
