I had a lovely week with my mom. She came in on Monday and just left a couple hours ago. It was so fun to see her and have her and Ronan spend so much time together. Ronan at times seemed a bit confused as to why we had an extra person in the house, but I think he enjoyed all the extra attention. When I got home from the airport this evening, he kept looking around for my mom. He even said his equivalent of "grandma" before she left, which was nice. We took it pretty easy, but had fun going to the Akron zoo yesterday. This was the first time that Ronan seemed really excited by the animals (it was our third trip there). He'd point and laugh and try to stand up in his stroller to get a better look. Of course, everything was a "dog," as all animals are, but he had a great time. I was bummed my dad wasn't able to come too, but he'll be here in a couple weeks, which I'm also looking forward too.
Ronan continues to do quite well - he's interested in everything, which can be good and bad. Recently, he figured out that if he pushes the lock button on my car remote, he can make the horn honk. He's very proud of that, but I'm not sure Tom is quite as thrilled when the car starts honking outside his bedroom window while he's trying to sleep. Ronan's also gotten much more interested in "reading" his books. He likes to sit and flip through them over and over. He especially likes the touch-and-feel type books. Whenever there's something furry in it, he'll hold the book up to his nose and let it tickle him and laugh. So cute. He still likes to sit on his potty and read, although we haven't bothered to try having him sit without a diaper or anything on it yet. I figure it'll all come in due time.
My mom also bought him one of those magnet-doodle things (you know, the silver screen that you can draw on? can't think of the name nor really describe it well). Anyway, he loves it and it has the added advantage that, unlike crayons, the dogs don't eat it. We've lost an entire set of crayons that way (which made for interesting lawn clean up for me), so I'm trying to be better about picking up crayons after color time is over. I'm not always great on that though. Oh well.
Anyway, that's the big news from Lake Wobegone, as they say. It'll take some adjustment to get used to being on my own again during the day. That's probably the hardest part about Tom working nights - for the majority of the day, seven days a week, it's just me and Ronan. While I love spending time with my son, it can get a little isolating when you don't have anyone else in the house to talk to and no one who can answer back (at least, in understandable English). :) But we're making it work. Adios!
