I have to get ready for class here soon, but I thought I'd just update everyone, since some of you have seen bits of this on Facebook.
Ronan's continued to be sick this week. On Wednesday night, he was so congested that he woke up coughing at one point and then choked on all the gunk in there. I was able to give him a good whack on the back and he coughed it up, but that was a terrifying moment. Then on Thursday and Friday, he was throwing up every time he ate or drank anything. We were able to get some pedialyte and he was able to keep that down, but not a fun situation for us there either. Saturday and Sunday he was sleeping a ton, which I thought was good for healing. By Monday, however, Tom was getting very concerned about it. We dropped Ronan off at my mother-in-law's Monday afternoon so I could go to class and when I was finished, I had a message on my phone from Tom saying that his mom had called, very worried about how lethargic Ronan was, and so they were going to the ER and I should meet them there. Of course, that wasn't a fun message to get, but I headed over.
They ended up drawing blood and putting in an IV to give him fluids (he was not a fan of that - he kept trying to shake off the brace and bandages they put around the IV so he couldn't pull it out) and then did a chest x-ray. Luckily, everything came back normal - no pneumonia or any other serious issues, he wasn't dehydrated, etc. It looks like it's just a bad case of RSV and hopefully he'll beat it soon. The fluids did make a huge difference and Ronan perked up quickly after that. So hopefully that'll continue.
I'll keep this updated as I can, but that's the basic situation at the moment. Thanks for all the well wishes everyone.
