So there is winter in Ohio after all!

I've always had a slight chuckle listening to the weather reports here in Ohio. For example, the other day I heard one forecaster warn us that it was going to get chilly, with a high only in the 20s. That same day, the high in the Twin Cities was 5 (with wind chills around -20, I believe) and Milwaukee was getting buried in snow.

Additionally, as I was jealously watching the snowfall reports in Milwaukee, we were getting hit with freezing rain. Then it warmed up and we just had regular rain, which made for a nice, muddy, miserable landscape. (I'm reminded, of course, of Lewis Black's rant about fall: "Fall, I hate the fall. 'Ooh, the leaves change colors.' The leaves change colors for about two days. Then a big wind comes along and I've got nothing but sticks for the rest of the year!")

Today though, there was a light dusting of snow on the ground when I woke up. There was also a definite nip in the air, in the form of 20-30 mph winds, driving the windchill down to about 4-5 degrees. I walked the dogs at the lake and the first part was pleasant - the wind was at our backs. Of course, as soon as we turned around to head back to the car, it was a whole different world. Thank goodness for layers. The dogs seemed to enjoy it though - they still wanted to stop and check out every bush and tree along the way.

Now, if only we could get some of that snow...unlikely, since the forecast calls for highs in the upper 30s and 40s later this week, along with my arch nemesis: winter rain.
