Hooray! I passed comps. What a huge relief. It was two intense hours, but it worked out well. After it was over, I was in our office, waiting for my friend to finish his oral exam when the earthquake hit. There were a couple other people in the office with me and none of us knew what was going on. My desk just started swaying - at first, I thought it was the construction work going on in the building, but pretty soon I realized that if it was, they were aiming to cut out a hole underneath me. One of my friends went out to the hallway and asked one of the workers if that was them - they said no and that's when we started to realize it was an earthquake. Definitely a first for me!
So now I'm getting ready to teach my first class, which starts Tuesday. Of course, to help with this, my body decided that this was the perfect time to get sick. It's mostly a head cold, so I'm hoping it'll go away quickly. But otherwise, things are going pretty well. At this point, though, I should probably get some sleep.
