Frequent Cold Program

I'm really hopeful that we're just having all the colds for a lifetime in one long run now, because it's beginning to drive me nuts. We had a nice two weeks (if that) where he was cold-free, but a couple days ago, the nose faucet turned on once again. It's worst at night, of course, since he can't breathe, so he's waking up a lot. I'm hoping it'll pass soon. This morning I felt so bad for him: when he woke up, his one eye was crusted over and he couldn't even open it, so Tom had to hold him down while I wiped it clean with a washcloth. He was not happy about that. And now I'm sick as well, so the two of us are miserable together.

But aside from that, things are going pretty well. I'm nearly done with coursework for the semester. Just two more papers (one due Tuesday, the other by Friday), so I can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Ronan, despite being sick, is still usually in a good mood during the day. He's learned how to clap his hands and will often start clapping if someone else does. Of course, like most baby tricks, he rarely performs in front of an audience, but it's still cute.

In other news, I ended up bringing him to my last night class last week. I was a little nervous, but he did great. He sat on my lap (and one of my classmate's as well), played with his toys and ate his little puffs. The only downside was that he's lately taken a real shine to screaming and he did that a few times in the middle of class. Oops. But other than that, he did great.

We go back to his doctor on Wednesday to get the flu booster shots (both the regular and swine flu varieties) so then he should be completely covered. Of course, with all the colds, I'm reminded of comedian Lewis Black's rant about flu shots: "A flu shot just gives you a cold for 365 days. You never get the flu, because you always have a cold!"

And Ronan just woke up from his nap, so I'll leave you with that!
